What to do with all your loose change…
My dad always had a jar that we had to put our loose change in. It was just something we did. Well, when I got older, I kept the tradition. Now, I average $100 a year in my cookie jar (can you tell it is really old and well loved?). My husband and I used to use the money to go out. Now that we have a little girl, I’m sure we will put it in her college fund. It is an easy way to save for college and not actually feel it. Next time you are cleaning out your purse or pickets, throw the change in a jar. My jar has a monkey on the top and is supposed to have cookie crumbs in it :) . I have to empty it about twice a year. It’s an easy way to save more money than you would think without having to think about it.

I keep a coffee can in my laundry room. As I clean or do laundry and find change here and there, I toss it in the can. I call mine my laundry fairy money.
When the can fills up, I roll up the coins and purchase something new for the house. Curtains, bedspreads or something that I want just because I want it!
It’s the one time I get to spoil myself each year or so.
Great Tip!

great tip - but i would change your container, and sell your cookie jar on ebay - or just treasure it- the change will scratch it up and could actually damage it. they are really collectible!

I thought about changing my coin catcher a couple of times so my cookie jar wouldn’t get messed up. But that old cookie jar hasn’t had cookies in it in over 15 years and it has 30 moves under it’s belt. I don’t think there is a single thing I could do to it that would harm it more than it has already. Besides, it has caught my change since I was a mere pre-teen. I wouldn’t know what to do with it anyway. Thanks for the idea, though. I think the sentiment in it now is for my coins. Unless you know a richer monkey? LOL
