I would say my biggest frugal flop was making my own laundry soap.
I know this works for many other folks, but even with following the directions used by other folks, the mix just did not work in my washer.
We have softened water, and live in Florida where all water is lukewarm from the tap. The laundry soap ended up leaving a scum ring in my washer and my clothes smelling musty.

Mine would have to be line drying. I was so proud of myself and thought it was kind of neat hanging the clothes out to dry. Didn’t think about my terrible environmental allergies. We now have an unused clothesline in the backyard and I’m having to get allergy shots again. Oh well.

Mine isn’t one thing…it’s a habit really, of buying something that is inexpensive that ends up being cheap and breaks. I have a hard time spending more on something quality when there’s something that costs a lot less available. I’m working on it, though :)

I agree Christine. I struggle with that as well. But I am getting better at that over time when I see how much I waste.
