Vinegar vs the diaper pail

I have to tell you that I am in love.  Don’t tell my husband.  He might be a little jealous.

You all know that there are a ton of ways to use vinegar to do everything from help you loose wieght to brightening up your home and making it smell better.  Well, lately I have been having a time with the diaper champ smelling a little.  So I put some hot water and a cup of vinegar in the bottom of the diaper champ and let it sit for an hour.  I came back and rinsed it out and voila!  It smells wonderful again and I can start using the Lysol spray with confidence.  I guess I should be a little more vigilant with sterilizing the diaper pail.  Nonetheless, vinegar to the rescue again!

    You probably had some urine leak out into the bottom of it. Whenever I empty my pail every week I try to remember to give it a spray with some Lysol. Also, I have thought about putting the refrigerator style box of Arm & Hammer in the bottom of it.

    I spray with lysol every time I change the deodorized bag in the diaper pail. I still had a slight smell. Of course, I also have a strong sense of smell.

    I found running a diaper champ too expensive and environmentally problematic, so instead of using one, I have a regular diaper pail that I empty daily and rinse out with vinegar and water weekly.

    Kate: Are you talking about the Diaper Champ or the Diaper Genie? The Diaper Champ uses regular trash bags.
    I HATED the diaper genie, but really like the diaper champ. No more winding, twisting, cutting, whatever it was you did with those crazy bags. It was a waste of time and money.
