Try Dollar Tree for Your Summer Needs

by Karen on June 11th, 2008

This week, I stopped by Dollar Tree and I was pleased with the great stuff that I found.  Sometimes you can find some treasures in there.

If you’re looking for things to keep the kids busy this summer, you should stop by Dollar Tree first to see what they have.  The trip could save you some money

Here are some of the treasures I found during my visit.  There’s nothing like the convenience of having a digital camera in your purse.  ;)

Check out these cute swim suits for infants and toddlers.  I bought some of these last year at Target on clearance.  These are swim pieces with a built in swim diaper.  You can’t beat $1 each.  What a great deal!  They also had sun hats to match.

Spiderman, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, and other kinds of swim rings and accessories, Nemo and Little Mermaid sand molds.  So much fun!

These tote bags are great for decorating.  If anyone is looking for a VBS craft, these would be great and the kids could carry home their week’s projects in their bags.

Aren’t these princess items so cute?  Check out the princess note pads, pens, paper, and cards.  Is anyone planning a princess themed party?  These would make great accessories to a party.

Have you stopped by Dollar Tree lately?  What kinds of items have you found?

I don’t have kids myself, just nieces; but I found a great selection (in the front of the store) of neat little hand held games (not electronic) with a circus theme. You know - water filled tubes where you push the button to get a ring around a hook. There were other items like cones on a stick with a small ball tied to the stick for getting the stick in the cone. (These are really hard to explain.) All the stuff had a circus theme - lions, clowns, big tents, etc. on them. I thought they were great little toys for kids.

I meant getting the ball in the cone - sorry!!

I love Dollar General and the Dollar Store. We went two days ago and got a few things the kids wanted. Wordsearch for my 7 year old, watch for 11 year old and two toys for the younger ones. I love the prices. Will be going back for gardening items too.

I have a love/hate relationship with all the dollar stores in general. Yes, you can find some gems, but just as often, you find (unmarked) seconds that just didn’t pass quality control.

I like those little inflatable rings for a dollar, but I will be honest, I certainly wouldn’t trust them at all. As a toy, fine. but as something to suspend a child above water? uhhh… no.

Jay: I understand what you’re saying. For me though, my kids are 2 and 4, so they just use them for playing and leaning on. They’re not allowed in the deep end of the pool yet. We usually just swim in those small above ground pools.

Sometimes you can find some gems on close-out items. I found some $12 shampoo and conditioner in there one day. Wish I would have bought more! Then another time I found Gold Toe socks for men. They still had the department store price on them. Another time I was lucky and found cds that had the Wal-Mart price tags. It’s kind of like a thrift store, in a way. Sometimes it’s junk and other times it’s great!

I haven’t been there for a while. It looks like I need to check it out again!
