Top 10 sales techniques to get you to buy
I ran across an interesting note on sales techniques from tramplinesonsale that are designed to rip us consumers off and get us to buy things we don’t really need. This is a tricky way to get our hard earned money and not to help us decide the frugal way to make a purchase. So take note of the plan to swindle you out of your money and be wise with your money. Don’t always take the price on the sticker for final pricing. Ask for discounts and work them down. I have said before, be able to walk away if they don’t work with you. They will next time.
- Bait and Switch
- Keep you waiting/ wear you down
- Extended warranty scare tactic
- “I made a mistake adding this up”
- “Get ‘em saying yes” rountine
- “This is the last one”
- Low ball lie
- Today only tactic
- Paperwork euphemism
- “turn over” maneuver
I have to admit I get caught with the today only tactic but I work the “turn over” maneuver to my advantage every time. I actually usually ask for a manager because I know the sales rep can’t authorize the kind of discount I am usually asking for. Be careful out there and happy shopping.
