Time management includes sleep for new moms

by kellys on August 22nd, 2007

We have talked about taking time out for yourself.  You need to get enough sleep to make the day productive.  The most effective time management technique I have found for new moms is sleep.  Don’t be a martyr.  Ask for help if you have a new baby and you are tired.  Take a nap and take care of yourself.  I know that right now, I am dieing for a nap every few hours.  It was so nice when my Turkey-butt was a newborn.  I could nap when she did.  But with Little Man, there are no naps and no sleep at night.  I am a real drag and get nothing done even when I have a babysitter.  You just don’t function when you are exhausted.  So take it from an exhausted new mommy, sleep when you can because if your mind isn’t sharp, nothing gets accomplished.

I remember being so thrilled when they took naps at the same time. It was so great!

I am with you that time management means naps. I moved into the 3rd trimester recently and I need like 11 or 12 hours of sleep a day… -Michelle
Sorry your kids don’t like to sleep, I have a few of those who did not nap, always been envious of the Moms who got nappers!!!

i agree with u.. i feel asleep, specially when im breastfeeding my 2 months old dylan gabriel, i can do all the house hold choirs after taking a nap with him, he would just play in his crib while im busy cleaning.. i make sure that he knows the difference between night time and day time.. i keep him awake (most of the time) during the day and have him sleep overnight soundly… very glad i am.
