Thursday Cleaning Challenge - Open up that couch!

by kellys on June 5th, 2008

You know what one piece of furniture gets neglected the most?  That honker of a couch in the living room.  Ever wonder what is growing under those cushions?  Well that is your Thursday Cleaning Challenge.  Take those cushions off ladies and gentlemen and see what lurks beneath.  Vacuum in those creveses as well.  Don’t jsut vacuum the seat and cushions.  While you are at it, spray some Febreeze.  I bet your couch could use a little airing out.  I have teenagers on mine all the time so I Febreeze mine once a week.  As always, here is what I found.  But I warn you, I do my couch at least once a month so mine won’t be too bad.  Sorry to disappoint.

  •  2 mismatched socks
  • 1 hair bow
  • $.80
  • food crumbs

Sorry for the short list.  Who has a worse list to share?  Come on.  Don’t be shy.  Next week, I will put you all to shame in the laundry room.

I had to laugh, since my sofa is in serious need of a good spray and shake-out and I had planned to do it today. Most of our problems come from things accumulating *underneath* the sofa: pencils, socks, toys, erasers, books, etc.

This is so funny because, the one thing that DOES get cleaned more than anything in this house is the room with the sofas. I have to move them completely out of the room once a week to host my toddler music and movement program. In fact, some moms have offered up their houses for me to host at once in a while so I don’t have to move my furniture and I always decline because I love that this room - where I spend the majority of my time working, playing, lounging, dancing, etc.. is the cleanest room in the house all of the time.
