Thrifty way to take the sting out of a jelly fish sting - Windex or vinegar

by kellys on June 3rd, 2008

So my nephew got stung by a jelly fish this week at the beach.  He was really upset.  My sister wasn’t going to pee on his leg in front of anyone so she did the next best thing, she sprayed his bites with Windex.  Her version of Windex had ammonia in it and it worked like a charm.  Did you know that, once again, vinegar is one of the best ways to cut the sting out of a jelly fish sting?

Also after you use vinegar, you should scrap the sting area with a credit card or room key card to remove the tentacles.

Thanks for the tip. Hope no one needs this though.

Speaking of vinegar do you know if it is true that if you mix vinegar and water and toss it on your patio it’ll chase away the ants?

I have used vinegar before so I know it works, but I don’t know anyone who has peed on a sting before. Does it really work?

My girlfriends and I went down to the beach years ago, and unfortunately someone got stung by a jellyfish. My husband ended up peeing on her and she was fine, we all went to the doctor and he told us that ( peeing ) was the best thing to do for that. Yes, my husband brings it up every time she comes over…

OK, Jenny. Wierd question. Did you cover your girlfriends eyes while your husband peed or did she? Start laughing now!!
