Thomas the Train recall for lead

by kellys on June 15th, 2007

It seems that here recently there have been many recalls for toys, clothes, etc… due to high lead levels.  Thomas the Train has fallen victim this week.  Turns out, I heard on the radio from one of the major talk show hosts that we will be seeing a lot more.  China doesn’t have as strict of manufacturing restrictions as we do, so they are finding more and more of the products being manufactured there with unsafe lead levels according to our restrictions.

According to the recall, you need to contact  RC2 Corp if you have bought a Thomas the Train wooden railway toy from January 2005 - June 2007.  The recalled toys have “WJ” or “AZ” on the code.  So take a look and see if you have any of the recalled toys and call RC2 Corp for instructions on how to exchange them.

Thanks for the heads up! My son has at least one of those trains.

I wanted to let you know that there is a slight error in your post. Note the last sentence. The codes you listed are NOT the ones that are being recalled.

Description: The recall involves wooden vehicles, buildings and other train set components for young children listed in the chart below. The front of the packaging has the logo “Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway” on the upper left-hand corner. A manufacturing code may be located on the bottom of the product or inside the battery cover. Toys marked with codes containing “WJ” or “AZ” are not included in this recall.

WE SHOULD JUST STOP BUYING THESE TOYS THAT ARE MADE IN CHINA. THESE BIG TOY COMPANIES KNOWS WHATS GOING ON WITH CHINA, AND THEY STILL GOING ON DOING. I GUESS MONEY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN. I SAY WE STOP BUYING TOYS FROM THESE BIG TOY COMPANIES AND PUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS.
