The Carnival of Credit Card

by Karen on February 26th, 2007

Welcome to the February 26, 2007 edition of carnival of credit card.  Thanks to Sagar for allowing me to host.

Pushpa Sathish at Debt Consolidation Lowdown tells us to avoid the debt trap.  She gives us 17 Hidden Tricks Lenders Use, and How to Avoid Them.   Read this article so you will know about lender tricks before you sign.

Kelly here at Thrifty Mommy gives us Sorting Through Credit Card Rewards Programs.  Kelly gives us a list of over 10 credit cards, along with the rewards that each one offers. This makes it easy to compare which one will meet your needs.

David presents Get Out of Debt Now! posted at Worldwide Success, saying, “In this article we will explore ways to deal with debt and offer suggestions on how to eliminate or at least reduce your debt load.”  It seems at one time or another, we all have fallen into the trap of debt.  Sometimes it comes from a loss of income or other hardship, and then other times it’s just from spending more than we make.  Worldwide Success provides some good tips for getting started on paying down that debt.

Matthew Paulson presents Don’t Go In Debt To Improve Your Credit Score! posted at Getting Green. Matthew is right, people’s views of money have changed over the past 20 years.  Getting into debt just to improve your credit score can get you into trouble.  Instead, you should focus on building your wealth.  If you have wealth, then you won’t need a credit score to buy things.  (I’m learning about this in my Financial Peace University classes.)

Applying for a Business Credit Card is posted at fivecentnickel.com.  He gives us some information about rewards, annual fees, and business card options.

Andrea Dickson presents I Don’t Love Capital One - How to Get a Lower APR, or Possibly Not posted at Wisebread.  Andrea tells about her high interest rate at Capital One and her struggles to get a lower rate.  I guess those commercials asking “What’s in your wallet?” aren’t so accurate.

FRAUDfiles tells us that Bank of America now has a credit card for illegal immigrants.  Interesting for sure.

Ask the Advisor presents How to: Make Money with Balance Transfer Arbitrage.  He gives us 10 rules for balance transfers.

Silicon Valley Blogger presents Test Your Buyer’s IQ: Quit Wasting Money On Costly Crap and 9 Reasons Why I Love My Credit Card posted at The Digerati Life.

FIRE Finance posts Free Money - $100 Bonus from Sony Rewards Visa Credit Card! and 5% Cash Back Rewards Card For College Students!.

Personal Finance Advice tells us about the American Express Black.  You cannot apply for this card.  It is the credit card that you can only get by invitation.

Free Money Finance presents $10k Challenge: Make Money with Credit Cards.  FMF shows us several ways that we can make money with our credit cards, but advises against this if you can’t pay the cards off every month.

Big Cajun Man presents Why are BMO and CIBC reissuing Credit Cards posted at Canadian Financial Stuff, saying, “When two major banks in Canada reissue credit cards en masse, just how bad do they think their system has been defrauded?”

Bryan C. Fleming tells us How to Open Your Online Savings Account.  I’m glad there is some information on this topic.  Some people were talking about this recently at my Financial Peace classes.

Lulugal presents Balance Transfers posted at Save Money.  She tells about her experience with transferring her credit card balances to get a lower rate.

Quang presents How Many Credit Cards should you have? posted at poor Wealth.  This is Quang’s first time submitting to a blog carnival.  Fun, huh?

Stephanie presents How do you know what credit cards to apply for? posted at Find Credit Online Blog.  She says, “Picking the benefits of your credit cards must be done carefully. The wrong one can cost you more than you will benefit from it.”

DebtBlog presents Women, Protect Your Credit - Three Credit Problems Women Must Avoid.  He gives some credit tips women should know.

Brad presents Five dollars or a tree planted in my name? posted at Brad’s Bits: Stories of slacking in corporate America.  He tells us ways he’s gotten money out of Citibank and he says, ”Citibank and I are helping the environment!”

Ask Mr Credit Card’s Blog presents A No Annual Fee United Airlines Mileage Plus Credit Card?.  Mr. Credit Card gives us some information on rewards programs.

Ask Uncle Bill gives the tax challenged some information with Saving On Taxes.  He encourages us to save money and do our taxes ourselves.  He’s right.  The people that work at the tax places only answer questions as prompted to them on a computer and they charge a small fortune.  Two years ago I wised up and stopped going to those places.

Simple Guru presents Don’t Blame The Credit Cards.  This post encourages us to realize the benefits of using credit cards and to quit calling them evil.  We are the ones that get ourselves into debt.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of credit card using the carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on the blog carnival index page.

Well, that was a lot of work!!!!  I need to go rest my achy wrist now.  Let me know if I messed up a trackback or didn’t site something correctly.  Hope you enjoy all the links.  :)
