Thank goodness for insurance
I know health car is a huge topic this year on the political scene. I, for one, am glad for my insurance and thankful that we have it. We have been to the doctor 8 times in 3 weeks. I have a very sick household. My co-pay is $20. My medicine so far has run me around $70. I have saved over $200 alone on medications. I have no idea how much I have saved in doctor visits. I am sure the premiums don’t add up to that much for the month. So this month my insurance has paid for itself.
How about you? Do you have insurance? How much are your co-pays? Do you think it is worth it?

I have been on both sides of the fence… actually all over.
We have lived in Europe for most of the year for four years, with their various medical schemes. I loved them. Our tax rate was through the roof, but 10 Euro per quarter is nothing in a “co-pay.” We received excellent care.
We spent summers uninsured– even through my pregnancy, which was really stressful and expensive… especially with a basketball playing athlete who needs “routine” care to keep playing.
Prior to marriage and again now, I work for the Feds. The insurance is VERY worth it! My co-pay is $15, and per doctor’s visit, I save at least $45, and with as much as The Boy has been sick lately, plus his tubes last November, it has saved us a lot. On top of financial, I no longer stress about each and every doctor’s visit, test, etc. I don’t have to wonder if we can afford it if he is sick… or worse, if one of us requires surgery or therapy or anything else.
For those wondering, the Federal Employee Health Benefit (FEHB) program is set up somewhat similar to Germany’s public health system, and I really believe this system would benefit the entire US population. If I were queen…

Our co-pay is only $10 and I like having the safety of insurance, but…
Before my wife got a job that had insurance included, as a self-employed person, I had to pay my own insurance premiums which at the time for a plan with a $30 copay was $1095 per month for a family of 3. Even with the cost of doctor visits so high, it takes a lot to cover that premium, but would only take a one day hospital visit to make you wish you had it, so we continued to pay it.

I am thankful constantly for our Union insurance. On a typical month with no illnesses, we spent $85 (copays) for medicines. Couple of years ago, before we got the insurance to cover ds’s medicine, we were paying $80 for 1 script per month.
Yes I am completely aware & appreciative for our health insurance!

I’m glad we have insurance, but I am getting increasigly frustrated with it. Our primarily care copays are $25. Specialists are going up to $50. ER visits are $100 PLUS 80/20. Outpatient hospital is $500 PLUS 80/20. Prescriptions? $10 for generic, 30% for regular, 50% for premium.
Last year we spent $7,000 out of pocket on medical bills. I dread what is going to happen this year. But we have a child with autism, so what do we do? Applied for TEFRA and are waiting to hear on that.
