Target clearance

by kellys on July 31st, 2008

I am so happy!  I have been watching for a good sale on the Maggie Convertible Car seat from Graco Comfort Sport.  My Target had it for $10 less than online so I was waiting until I had the money to get Turkey Butt her new car seat.  I called today to make sure they still had it and she said that they had a major reset and that they would no longer be carrying it.  Taht means that most of their older baby stuff is on clearance for you but I was TICKED!!!!  I had waited, once again, too long.  So I asked her to check to see if they had any in the back and she said that they would have sent them back yesterday but she would check.  Then …

She came back and said that not only did htey have 2 left (I needed one for each car) but they were on sale for $59.45.  HALLELUIA!!!  I was in heaven.  I told her to hold them and that I would be there in 10 minutes.  She said they couldn’t hold them but that if I was there in 10 minutes, they would probably still bed there.  She had no idea that Turkey Butt has been begging for a pink car seat for months.  Luckily, when I got there, they were still there.  It would have totally been my luck that they would have sold while I was in route.

So now, Turkey Butt will be sitting like a princess and I got the car seat for $20 off with no S/H.  I just love it when a plan comes together.  Stay tuned for pics of the kids in their new car seats.  Little Man got Turkey Butt’s but it will be new to him.

The only sad part is that my baby is no longer in a baby seat.  True to my kids, though, he still can’t turn around as he is not quite 20 lbs.  Oh well, he is healthy though and I am so happy!

Your son can stay rear facing for much longer as 20 pounds is the minimum for turning children forward facing. Extended rear facing is so much safer as children are at greater risk for neck, head and spinal cord injuries while forward facing. The AAP recommends rear facing until the limits of the seat. Depending on which seat you have this could be between 30 - 35 pounds.

unless your child cannot fit in a rear facing car seat any longer….my son was in a rear facing car seat until 22 lbs. and by that time his legs were so cramped up, poor boy would scream every time we put him in the carseat. It was so uncomfortable!

Great deals!!! I noticed yesterday that Target has a lot of baby stuff on clearance!

Great deal!! I’m sure it was sad to move your son out of his baby seat…it was for me too. My daughter was under 20lbs at a year as well, so we waited an extra month to turn her around. Her legs were pressing the back seat well before she hit the weight target, so I’m sure she was glad to have the extra room and a new vantage point! I was relieved to move her around too, as she was at greater risk of lower leg injuries with her legs crunched like that.

Can’t wait to see Turkey Butt in her princess chair!

I am not attempting debate, I came across this website looking for ways to try to be more frugal. I am only providing relevant information that other parents may not be aware of. I am a child passenger safety technician who had never heard of extended rear facing until I began training 2 years ago. There has never been a documented case of a child sustaining lower leg injuries as the result of rear facing during a crash. Even so, a broken leg can be put in a cast and heal, a broken neck or severed spinal cord are not so easy to heal. At some point, most children simply become reluctant to sit in a carseat, not because they are uncomfortable, but rather they just want to move around instead of than sitting still. There are many resources to look for for more information and documentation, try http://www.carseat.org.

wow…if we went by the rear facing until 30 or 35 lbs,one of my 3 1/2 year olds would still be sitting backwards!!! the 13 month old is 24 lbs. and the one 3 1/2 year old is 27 lbs. lol…i would have to flop her legs over the back of the seat.
