Take some time to read with your kids

by kellys on January 24th, 2007

One of the things I love the most about being a parent is finding the time to read with my daughter. We like reading a couple of books at night and then singing a few songs before she goes down for the night. I love that time and so does she.

Here are her favorite books:

God gave us you by Lisa Tawn Bergren

Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Bill Martin, Jr

Picture me Cute as Can Bee by Jennifer Thompson

One of my favorite blogs is Revka’s Little Fun; Little Learning. She too loves to read with her kids and has some other recommendations. Take some time to scoot around and find just what you are looking for. I did.

Thank you, Kelly. I am not familiar with any of those books and will have to check them out of the library. I’m glad you came by.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear is a good one, but I haven’t heard of the others.

I like to find books for my daughter that I’ll enjoy reading to her over and over. That’s a bit tricky. But it’s possible.

For instance, we went to the bookstore recently and we each picked a bunch of books. I read them all to her with the agreement we’d buy one. We both loved the same one: “I Don’t Like Gloria.” It’s just too cute, especially if you have a dog and have seen your dog make all the faces in the book.

I also recommend any of the Olivia books. They’re fun for both Little Bit and me to read.

When my sister lived in West VA…her kids were really little…when visiting them my absolute favorite time was when we all went to the town library to read…so sweet.
