Save on dishwashing soap with a dispenser

by kellys on April 28th, 2007

I got my regular Bed, Bath, and Beyond $5 off coupon in the mail today and went to toss it.  I never go in there because it usually costs me more to go than to stay at home.  But lately I have been wanting a cute little soap dispenser for the kitchen.  You know one of those that sit on your counter that looks like you should have oil in it and looks adorable but only lets out a little bit of soap at a time.  I used to think that they were a pain in the butt because they are so slow.  Then it dawned on me, no pun intended, that I was the one that was slow.  The soap dispenser forces you to use less than you would normally use.  In reality, we use too much soap anyway.  We could stretch our dishwashing soap much longer if we used less.

You know what I am talking about.  How many times have you needed just a drop on your sponge or dishrag to clean something and your bottle gave you enough to wash 5 dishes with?  It happens to me a lot.  But with the soap dispenser, you get just what you want and save on soap in the end.  So that is what I am going to use my coupon for this time.  I love going shopping!

I have a scrub brush that has diluted soap in it. When we’re cleaning dishes, we just push the button on the scrubber and it lets out a small amount of the diluted soap. This has been a great tool for our kitchen for many years. It cleans easily too. Every few days I spray some cleaner on the bristles to make sure no bacteria are lingering.

Hope you enjoy your soap dispenser shopping trip. I just found out about a new thrift store that’s up the road. I’ll be heading out soon! :D

Not only do you get to save on soap, you also save on water since you’ll need less to rinse your dishes! Great tip!

I just found your site, great info.

One thing I discovered that works great is those foaming soap dispensers. The work awesome. So much more frugal though if you refill them. All it is is regular dishsoap/handsoap but greatly diluted. 1 regular bottle of soap has made probably 15 pump bottles. I don’t use it for doing sinks of dishes, just for spot cleaning and scrubbing pans and stuff.

But for handsoap especially it works great! I love the stuff. I have a wonderful smelling bath and body soap in my bathroom.
