SAHM is just another word for Stay at Home Mom
I love only working part time. If I have to work, then 2 days a week is plenty. It gives KM a little time with the other kids and me some adult time, if that is what you can call some of my co-workers. :) But what I love the most is that 5 days a week, I can get up and know that all I have to do is play with my beautiful little girl. I feel such compassion for all of you full time parents out there that have to spend so much of your time away from your kids.
Let me jsut say this to you. You are doing exactly what you should for your kids. So many people feel that SAHM’s are better parents. That is just not true. You love your kids just as much as we do and they love you too. So just hug them when you can and know that you are just as important and loved by your kids as I am to my kid.

Amen, sister! I am fortunate to have been a SAHM for a while with both of my kids. Now I work part-time at the preschool where they attend. Even though I don’t make much money, I really enjoy that I can keep an eye on them. Parents who work full-time definitely have a huge responsibility. It’s just important that they sacrifice some other areas for being with their kids. They could sacrifice cleaning the house and get a housekeeper or they could sacrifice cooking for take out. Hiring a teenager on the side is a big help. They want to earn a little money and be a help to you.

I’m also lucky to work just 2 days a week. I thinks it allows for a wondeful balance between being a mommy and being an adult. I think I need that time away from my kids so I can miss them and appreciate them more when we’re together.

I work 4 half days at the preschool. I would rather work 2 full days and have off the rest of the week though. Four days of getting ready for school and packing their stuff makes the week seem more tiring. I was working 5 days a week, but cut back to 4. I’m glad I did. I couldn’t find time for doctor’s appointment and errands. I can’t do my errands after work b/c they’re both ready for a nap. Oh well, this is working for us right now.

Yes I cherish these few short years I have home with my two little girls. Recently I found a way to work from home by using my blog to showcase my craftwork. As a full time Mum theres no way I would get to market my work to craft shops, or attend craft and trade shows as my husband does with his work. I don’t mind at all, its a small sacrifice to make for these few precious years with my girls. Little did I know the power of the blog, which is allowing me to reach out worldwide with my work. I have 3 mornings a week free now when I can work at home as my youngest daughter is now at playschool those 3 mornings, and my older daughter just started school in September. The years of flying at some speed!

Good for you, Rebecca. I am so glad to hear anyone be able to make it work at home. I just couldn’t imagine missing all these days with my little girl. I already miss too much of her life as it is.
