Frugal Friday: Get Those Rainchecks!
Whenever I go into a store and they don’t have the items that are on sale, I get a raincheck. Many stores don’t have an expiration date on their rainchecks, so I use them for my advantage. Here are some ways that I have used rainchecks to save money.
1) I get the raincheck and I don’t use it until I absolutely need that item. This saves room in my cabinets and allows me to stockpile other sale items.
2) If the item is at a really good price, I’ll use the raincheck once I have some room and buy several while it is at a rock bottom price.
3) I’ll get the RC and then go back to the store later in the week. When I go back, if they have the item I’ll purchase it and then save the RC for later when I need the item again.
4) Sometimes you can keep the RC until you have a coupon to go with it. This way you can maximize your savings.
The picture shown is of some juice I got a few weeks ago. They were on sale for only $1 per container. The store was out, so I got a RC and used it a few weeks later.
Be sure to read the raincheck when you get it to see if there is an expiration date or limit of how many of that item you can get.
Do you get rainchecks when your store is out of a sale item?

lol Kristin. I just read your post. Looks like we were having similar thoughts.
I confess that I went to Food Lion today and forgot to pick up a raincheck for the white grapes that are on sale for .99/lb. Maybe I can make it by there again before the sale ends.

I have just started getting rainchecks. Like you, I try to get the item if it is back in stock so I can save the raincheck for a “rainy” day!

Martha: I keep my rainchecks in my coupon pouch so that I never lose them. Do you have a coupon pouch? If so, that might work for you.

At Winn Dixie this past week, they had rump roasts and BL/SL Chicken breasts on sale, buy one/get one. I bought what they had left of the chicken and roasts and got a rain check for more.
DH and DS LOVE bbq beef sandwiches in the crockpot….and if I can get the roasts for cheaper, I can make them more often!

Also, Winn Dixie has some great B1/G1 sales this week.
Batteries (who doesn’t need those?)
Vive shampoo and conditioner
Farm Rich french toast sticks
Kellogg’s cereal
Planter’s Nut Mixes
Frozen shrimp and fish packs
Center cut boneless pork chops
they also have ground beef for 1.99 a lb.

Thanks for the tips, Lindsey. I haven’t shopped at Winn Dixie in years b/c there’s not one in our area. I’m sure your tips will benefit our readers. :)
