Frugal Challenge Saturday - Birthday parties

by kellys on May 26th, 2007

Anybody out there wonder how to save money on Birthday and Christmas?  It is a challenge around my house as our Christmas list is growing exponentially every year.  Our family is blessed with new members every year.   But this year will be the first year that I will have to buy our daughter something under the tree.  I am on a mission for a playhouse similar to one she got to play with at a sitter’s house one time.  So I will be shopping all yard sales this summer in search of one for cheap.  I am actually willing to pay $50 for one since they sell retail for over $200.

So, if you have an idea as to what you want to get for birthday and Christmas presents, then shop the sales this summer.  This way, you won’t have to have sticker shock for Christmas and birthdays.  I know that I can’t afford to pay for all of it all at once.  That’s why I set aside money every week so that I can pay cash for Christmas.  Hope this helps save you some money AND get you want you want to give away.

I’ll let you know how my hunt goes when I find what I am looking for.  Karen, if you find one, let me know!

At first, I thought you were talking about a doll house. I have a Dora dollhouse for sale. I’ll try to keep my eye out for a playhouse. I went to some yard sales today.
