Choking and CPR Instructions

by Karen on October 22nd, 2006

When our first child was born, my husband and I took a choking and CPR class. Iheimlech picture recall some of what I learned, but those kind of instructions are hard to remember.  I thought all of us could use a refresher.  I hope we never have to use the techniques, but it’s good to know them, just in case.

BabyCenter.com is one of my favorite sites.  For years I have received their free weekly newsletters, appropriate for my child’s age and developmental stage.  Click here to read their step by step instructions for choking and CPR.

My wife and I took a class when the kids were born. We need to take another now that they are older. I remember paying very close attention to the infant lessons and kind of tuning in and out over the older kid stuff because it was so far away. Way out in the future…which just happens to be now. Now that the kids are officially preschool sized, I need to learn how to give kids CPR.

One of their first tips is really the best. Set aside some time for a class where you can practice on the dummies. It really helps to feel what the steps look like before you need to do it on your own kid.

    Mike,
I guess we’re kind of in the same situation. My husband and I took the class when my daughter was just a week old. That was over 3 years ago.
