Childrens’ nicknames

by kellys on September 25th, 2007

I love my kids. That’s why I strive to save time and money so that I can stay home with them as much as possible. My daughter is at that age where she is remembering things well so I don’t have the luxury of telling her one thing and not following through on it later. Recently I shared with you some new pictures of them (Thanks, Karen) with their nicknames. She has several from different people and I love watching her tell you what they are. If you ask her “you are Daddy’s what?” She will respond “Daddy’s girl”. It is absolutely adorable. Michelle loves her nickname from me, “Turkey butt”. That was what all of us were called when we were growing up along with “Snickerfritz”. So I thought I would share their nicknames and how they got them and I want to hear from you.

Daddy’s girl - This one is her daddy’s. Every little girl should be called this at some point in her life. My DH loves it when she tells him she is his little girl.

Turkey Butt - This one is mine for her. Just a family nickname for a child who does silly stuff. It just fits her perfectly.

Melissa’s Monkey - This is the one that her teenage babysitter calls her because my DD loves to monkey around and make monkey faces with her.

Rachel’s Boo - This is another one of the teenager’s name for her that hangs out at our house a lot.

little man

My son hasn’t been around long enough to get a lot of nicknames due to his personality. When he was still “cooking”, we called him “Little Man” and still do. His daddy calls him “big guy” so that, of course, is what Turkey Butt calls him as well. Whatever daddy says is what is law for her. I love that.

So what do you call your kids? Do you have any nicknames for your kids? We would love to hear them.

When CP was a baby we would call him Tigger b/c when he was in his exersaucer or Johnny jumper, he would just jump and bounce so much. The exersaucer was so loud when he would bounce in it. Tigger doesn’t seem to fit him now so I call him Cuddlebug b/c he has always liked to cuddle and love. Even when he was just 12 months old, he would walk by and grab my hand and put it around himself. He isn’t shy about demanding affection.

AE got her nickname b/c my dad taught her “See you later Alligator. After while Crocodile.” He said she was the Alligator and he was the Crocodile. It’s stuck ever since then. We also call her “AE” since they are her initials.

Since our three are so close together, we made nicknames for the younger ones so the older ones would know what to call them. Our oldest son Sebastian is called Buddy and our youngest son is called Bubba. The boys call our oldest Sissy. I call her Honey and Lovey. When she would do something silly I would call her silly and she would reply” I’m not silly mama, I’m a winner!” I cracked up at that and would say “Yes Honey you are a winner.”

I ask my kids what they want to do today? Do they want to save the world? Then I tell them that they can do whatever they want to do.
