Can’t win for losing

Looks like I will be having surgery soon.  We are at my mom’s and my carpal tunnel is HORRIBLE!  As I am typing, my hand is completely numb.  Guess I will have to find another source of income as I really don’t have enough vacation time for a 6 week absence.  I hate being so […]

Do You Pay Payment Fees?

I usually pay most of my bills through my credit union’s online bill pay service. It’s free and it’s easy. However, today I realized that my Duke Power bill was due yesterday. Oops.
I decided to call in my payment to Duke Power instead of using my credit union’s free bill pay. […]

A Little Motivation for You

Some of you are working to become debt free. Financial peace is awesome!!!!! Not having to spread your money out trying to pay off debt really allows you to put money away, pay cash for purchases, and live like no one else.

First Rebate Checks Deposited Today

According to Tax Girl, the first round of rebate checks will be deposited today, which is a few days earlier than originally promised.  Based upon my husband’s SSN, it looks as though we’ll be getting ours next week.
I had originally planned to use ours to purchase a new bed for us (we’ve never had a […]

How are your gas prices?

I went to the gas pump to day and had to pay $3.49/gallon.  That is ridiculous.  How in the world are we supposed to buy the necessities when gas is so high and milk is almost $5 a gallon here?
What is gas like where you live?  I can’t wait to hear how expensive it is […]

Increase your stimulus check by 10%

What will you be using your stimulus check for? Will you be paying off a debt? Or will you buy groceries? Turns out, Sears, KMart, and Kroger have the right idea. If you take your check to one of these stores, you can cash the whole check in for gift cards […]

Thank you, United Airlines

There are still good guys out there in the airline industry.  United Airlines gaveus our tickets to go to my grandma’s funeral at a deeply discounted price.  I was a little disappointed when I paid since they charged me a $20 fee for booking at the airport per ticket.  Well, here we were getting off […]

What a blessing for airline tickets

Ok, so I went to the airport and tried to get cheap tickets.  Total failure.  My tickets were averaging $3k.  So I asked United, USAir, and Delta if they have bereavement fairs.  Only United did so my tickets were $1400 for all 4 of us.  That is a great deal for next day tickets.

Get out of debt Calculators

I hate debt. I try really hard to keep it to a mild roar if I have to listen to it at all. My #1 motivator is a number that I keep on my Fridge that no one sees but me. It is my total debt. That way I can keep […]
