Can anyone help me?
I am currently looking for a bedding set for my litttle girl for when she gets a big girl bed. I want there to be moons and stars on it because she reall ylikes that kind of stuff but all the stuff I find looks like a boy. Can anyone send me a link to bedding that may work? I am exhausted looking at all kinds of bedding that just dissapoints me.

Can you use gingham bedding (like pink or yellow or both) and then use the moon and stars as accents by painting them on the wall or other accesories around the room? Maybe a moon or star pillow? Just a thought.

Are you going to put her in a toddler bed or regular twin size bed?

Cute idea Sarah. Stencils and sponges are a thrifty way to go and are easier to help get things the way you want them to look. You can mix the colors just the way you want them. Welcome to Thrifty Mommy.

I am on the lookout for a daybed with a pull out mattress (to store underneath). This would give us 2 twin mattresses for when family comes to visit. It would also clear up a lot of space in my little boy’s room because right now he has a spare bed in his room for company. Then that would clear up space in my living room because the toys in the living room could go in his room. It’s a win, win!
If we got the daybed, my girl could sleepover in her brother’s room when company was here. Someone told me this is a trundle bed. Does that sound right? Maybe Kelly has a trundle bed and we could swap a trundle bed for a little girl’s toddler cottage bed. It is pink and has shutters. Cute!

I wanted to get her a solid oak daybed with a trudle but no one in town has them. We might have to go out of state to find it. Want to look in HP for me, Karen?
I thought about the stenciling idea as well but don’t think it would work on my walls as they are very textured. Will have to try it to see.
Ideally, she would want to crawl into her bed and jump under the moon covers to go to sleep.

Angie, I did find the site and am ideally looking for something similar to the Hello Sun and Moon Collection. But they only have it in a nursery theme. I might have to give up.

I’m a little hesitant to tell you to get a big girl bed. I know AE has fallen off her bed many times in the night. Of course, now that she’s 3 it doesn’t happen as much, but it still happens. Just this weekend she was sleeping on the floor in her room.
Here’s an idea. Once I find my trundle bed (hopefully with my tax money), I could give you my toddler bed. You could get a pastel bed set with moons and stars and you could paint some stuff on the walls to match. You can paint designs on textured walls. You just have to be careful.

Have you looked into fabric? In my mind, I am picturing a really cute quilt with moon and quilt appliques on it.
You might also want to look at fleece. AE has a really cute Care Bear fleece blanket that she uses. Her mawmaw made it for her. It is double thick.

Oh wait. I think I am remembering now. Your walls are super dooper textured, aren’t they? Maybe some stick on pictures would work, or just some artwork. Target and Michaels are great places for thrifty artwork.

Uhhum. It’s about time you came to visit me anyway, Kelly S. We could go shopping for the beds together! :)
Thrifty Mommy - You guys are so helpful on bedding

[…] I posted a little while ago that I needed help on finding bedding for my little girl and already you guys have been very helpful. Ironically, I found a great site on one of our ads, Smart Bargains. I figured it would be another lost cause but I found a really cute Mary Ann quilt and sham cheaper there than even on ebay. It’s not wht I am looking for but if that set was cheap in comparison, then the other deals should be just as good. Take a look and tell me what you like. I am thinking like Karen, get her a moon and star fleece blanket or sheets to snuggle in. You can get creative with the moon and stars. Not just paint but get foam board, cut the shapes out and then cover with pastel fabric or batting and fabric (use hotglue on back). Talk about thrifty!
I have stars hanging above my daughter’s crib. They are made out of fabric, stuffed and then hung with ribbon. I put them at different levels, hung with clear thumbtacks on the ceiling. (Wish I could post pictures :)
You could do several things with pictures/prints or canvas on the walls. Those metal stars are popular now, you could spray paint those pastel. Seems like once you decide on your bedding your decorating possibilities are limitless.

The Mother Load just posted today about using a daybed as a bedrail. Check it out here.

Turning the bed around is a great idea. I was thinking about leaving the trundle out a little so that if she fell over the bed rail, she would fall on the trundle. But I like turning the bed around as well.

Thanks, Dawn. I went to see it and it wasn’t avaliable but I will try again. I am almost convinced that I will have to settle for Dora and Boots.

My little girl loves Dora, but I just couldn’t handle a whole bedroom with it. She has a Dora hamper and a Dora poster on the wall. That’s about it. I am going to let her have purple walls. I just have to find the right purple. Some of them are so bright.
