Best gifts of the season.
So now that I have told you about the worst gift I have received over the years, let me tell you about the best gifts I got this year. My MIL got me a fabulous eggplant colored chenille blanket for my living room. I am always so cold and am always in need of a blanket to cover myself with. You can only put on so many layers before you end up feeling like Ralphie from A Christmas Story.
The other gift was a total surprise. We went to the DH’s brother’s in Washington DC for Christmas day. His side of the family had already exchanged gifts so we just took cards to give the adults and a few gifts for our little girl to have to unwrap under the tree. His brother and SIL had gone out of their way to get us a gift. And not just any gift. We had fallen in love with the video monitor they have for their little girl and were considering getting one for the next baby. It’s great to be able to see how babies put themselves to sleep and how sweet they are when they are waking up. We never got that with KM because we just had an audio monitor. Well, they had gotten us a monitor like their’s! I couldn’t believe it and was in shock for a moment. Not only were we not supposed to exchange gifts, but that was an expensive gift to give.
It didn’t take me long to get it set up in KM’s room when we got home. I loved watching her wake up this morning. She just played and couldn’t decide whether to throw her blanket out of the crib or pull it back in. This happened a couple of times. Then she was ready to get out. I loved it. It gave me a whole new insight as to how she puts herself to sleep and what she does when I hear her talking to herself in the mornings. If she saw me before, she would stop what she was doing and want out. Now I can watch her for a little while and see just how sweet she is when she is by herself as well. YEAH!!!!!!!!!
My favorite gift to give was pictures of the family to everyone. I guess I should probably get those in the mail soon. WHOOPPS!! Sorry everyone for the late gifts.

I got some DVDs from my DH, but I’m not sure if those count because I picked them out. LOL Another good gift was money. Money always works for me.
My kids got some really nice toys this year. My DD got a V-Smile game system and my DS got a basketball goal. He loves to play with balls and cars. They also got some Diego and Dora stuff. My brother and SIL always get the kids savings bonds. It’ll be nice to cash those in some day for college or some other worthy expense. The toys certainly won’t last that long.
