Being frugal with children’s toys and clothes.
As parents, we only want what is best for our kids. That means buying what they need AND what we think they might need regardless of what our parents used on us. I have bought my daughter toys and clothes and more toys and clothes. She never plays with or wears half of them. Granted, I paid pennies on the dollar for it all but she still doesn’t need all of it. So it just clutters up my living room and her closet. Lately, I have been thinking that maybe my mom’s house was always clean because we didn’t have so much stuff around. So I have been watching what KM plays with. Turns out, I should just empty out all the medicine bottles and let her chew on the droppers and then let her shake the empty Advil bottle that I filled with hard dried beans. I have separated her toys and put out only half of them so she doesn’t have quite so many to choose from. By rotating, she thinks she has new toys every month or so.
The challenge for this thrifty mommy is not buying anything else this season. That’s hard for me. I try to save my money so that we can eat out and get stuff for KM. I will have to physically stay out of the baby department for a while or the temptation will be great. My only saving grace is that I have 3 baby showers to buy for. Let’s see how I do.
