Another Hike in Postage Costs
It seems the price of everything is going up . . . gas, groceries, and now postage stamps. We just saw an increase a few months ago when postage went from 39 cents to 41 cents.
We’re in for another increase. Effective Monday, May 12th the price of postage will increase 1 cent, which will make postage stamps 42 cents. Make sure you attach a 1 cent stamp to your bills or letters or they may be returned to you.
Paying bills online is looking more and more attractive to me. What about you?

I’ve been paying bills online for a while now and wouldn’t trade it! I save my postage for special things like birthday cards and letters. :) I still have a stash for the 2-cents upgrade stamps from a month ago that I haven’t used yet.

Where does it end? Okay, 42 cents isn’t going to break me, but come on! It’s so frustrating when you can look back a few years and see how much less we were paying - but I guess that goes for everything else…

I started paying bills on line about 9 months ago and they only question I have is: what took me so darn long. It is fast, easy, does not consume time, gas, or stress!

darn it! I JUST bought a bunch of 41 centers. A penny isn’t a big deal, it’s just the fact that now I have to go BACK to the post office, wait in line for an hour just to buy 25 cents worth of stamps.
I don’t send many things via post mail, but I do send cards and personal letters and such…..aw man!

When we moved overseas, I went to paying as many bills as possible online. Not only does it save postage, but it reduces my environmental footprint. No paper to me. No paper leaving. No fuel. No stamp. It’s a win-win situation.

i don’t buy many stamps, but for thank you cards and holiday cards, i need stamps about twice a year. This hike is obnoxious, because i buy enough stamps to last a while so i don’t have to go back to the post office all the time. They keep changing the costs though, so basically every large holiday or birthday, i’m having to run back there and it annoys me. i should have just bought the first class rate stamps the last time, instead of wanting something pretty. Oh well. It’s not a huge deal, it’s just a bother and is something about life that i didn’t know about until i got married 2 years ago:)

Forever Stamps make the most sense b/c you can use them “forever” without having to buy extra 1-cent stamps. My husband and I just stocked up on them yesterday.

I actually don’t buy stamps since I never mail anything. I just buy them individually when I need one. I do everything online or at the bank.

I try to pay most of my bills online. I guess I started that about a year or two ago. My credit union offers online banking and billpay for free. The payments that go through electronically (one day) I pay online. These include electric, gas, and cell phone. I can pay my cable/internet bill and water bill on the way home from my daughter’s doctor appt. I pay my insurance payment over the phone. I think the only payment I mail in is my mortgage. This has really saved a lot on stamps, checks, and paper mail.
