  OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! do they have a mansion they’re trying to provide electricity to or is this a provider gone crazy?????? i can’t imagine having to deal with that on a monthly basis!!!!! i’m in shock!!!!!!!!!

  I saw this on James’ blog. I could hardly believe it. It’s expensive to live in CA.

  I live in California too (albeit south) and I find it awfully hard to believe that’s a normal bill. Are they heating a pool year round? And keeping their house at 78 degrees? And constantly using their dryer? I’m going to have to start asking friends what they pay and see if I’m just completely out of the ordinary.

  Why on Earth is that so high? Is everything functional in their home? If a furnace is broken (but the owners don’t know it) it can quadruple a bill.

  Is this normal for them?

  I know the rates are high and all right now… but something is seriously not right with that. Our bill, at the most, was $200 when we lived in a very old and drafty row home in Baltimore (Baltimore is no CA… but still, our Gas and Electric company just increased their rates by 50%!!!). We always have the TV on, had an electric stove, ran 3 computers all the time, along with the lights, etc.

  After seeing this…I’ll try not to complain about our electric being nearly $200! I can’t even imagine that at all. How do they do it? Geesh, My hubby’s bring home pay is $900 every two weeks,so there would be NO way we could manage that one. (We live in WV and they just raised the rates here AGAIN,too.)

  We live on the East coast as well and they raised our rates and then lowered them again. Needless to say, I haven’t received a refund yet :)
  As far as their electric bill, there are 7 people living in a 5 bedroom home. I will have to see about getting her to come visit.

  That was a high for us (800 was avg at that house).it was any old house, circa 1910 that we lived in for only 6 mos. We were too frugal to stay longer. And btw, hubby had a digital thermostat set at 65 during the winter, no ac during summer. Normal in our new house is still 400 but way better! He posted that one because it was freaking unbelievable! Cheers :)
