Amazing Benefits from Honey

by Karen on April 19th, 2008

Just a few months ago, I was visiting my aunt and she wanted me to try the lotion bar that she had purchased from Honey Thyme Herb Farm.  She knows that I have really bad eczema and she was certain that the lotion bar would help.  After just a few uses, I could tell a big difference.

A few months later, when I visited my aunt again, I used the lotion bar a few more times.  Again, I received quick results.  I decided that I needed to contact Theresa at Honey Thyme Herb Farm to get some of these products to try for myself.

These are the products I tried and a little about them:

Lavender & Rosemary Bath Salts - Some of the ingredients include honey, powdered milk, lavender and rosemary flowers, and essential oils.  The bath salts smell wonderful.  The fragrance is very soothing.  After using the salts, my skin felt smooth and moisturized.

Lip Balm - The lip balm is sweetened with Stevia.  This is a sweet herb that does not raise blood sugar or have calories.  I tried the coconut lip balm, but it is available in different flavors.  I like that the lip balm leaves my lips feeling moisturized, but not waxy.  It smells and tastes good too.

honey thyme healing salveHealing Salve -  I used the healing salve on my eczema and cracked hands.  Calendula, Lavender, Plantain, Chickweed, and Comfry are infused with vegetables oils and then strained.  The oils are then thickened with beeswax, bee propolis is added and it’s ready to use on cuts, scrapes, insect bites and other minor mishaps.

Lotion Bar - This is my favorite product that Theresa makes.  As I stated earlier, this was the product that my aunt had me try.  I was excited to receive the lotion bar and begin using it on my dry skin.  The lotion bar looks like a bar of soap.  It contains Mowrah butter and Jojoba oil.   You just rub it on your skin to begin enjoying the natural products working to heal your skin.

All of Theresa’s products are made right here in my home state of North Carolina.

My philosophy is to keep my recipes pure and simple using organically grown herbs mostly from my garden and honey, beeswax and propolis from my bee hives. My honey is 100% pure and unfiltered and my body products are made with pure vegetable oils, specifically chosen to pamper and heal the skin.  Most of my products are scented with pure essential oils which are 100% plant based. For some products I give a fragrance oil option. These oils are synthetic but smell great. I never use artificial preservatives substituting instead Vitamin E and bee propolis. I am fond of saying that if I can’t pronounce an ingredient, it won’t go into my products and I hope you enjoy using them as much as I do.

Be sure to check back next week.  I am so pleased with Theresa’s products that I have asked her to sponsor a giveaway for our readers!!!!

There are more products to choose from at Honey Thyme Herb Farm.  Which product would you like to try?

wow!!! NC has a lot to offer, i’m still learning about my state :-).

the healing propolis cream sounds very interesting. i like that it is all natural. my son tends to get fungal rashes when he is on antibiotics and gets diarhea (lovely, i know) and i think this would be a great alternative to the anti-fungal cream from the pharmacy.

I am very interested in the lotion bar if it helped your eczema. I have some kind of skin condition that comes and goes. I have been to several doctors and no one can tell me what it is. It is very frustrating because it is very itchy and looks horrible (on my legs and feet and hands and arms and belly). Sometimes in just one of these spots but sometimes all at one time. The best thing I have found is been the tanning bed but I live way in the mountains of SC and there is not a tanning bed close. And besides, tanning is not that great for you. So… I may have to buy one of those for myself and see if it works. This has been going on for years (about 10) and I am sick of it. Thanks for the info. Love your blog.

Tami, Eczema does come and go. It seems to have a mind of its own. And the tanning bed does help it. I’ve never been to a tanning bed, but when my eczema flares up bad enough, I give thoughts of going. I highly recommend the lotion bar. You may want to order a few of them. It’s nice to have one beside your bed, one in the car or your purse, etc.

Wow! I’m not too far from this from and must check it out. Thanks for the info. My entire family suffers from eczema so I definitely want to try out the lotion bar. My 8-month-old has it pretty bad on her legs and would love to get it cleared up now that the weather is finally get warmer and we’ll all be in shorts soon. Looking forward to your Western NC list - we’re over that way often. Love your site! Thanks for all the good advice.

Eczema is considered to be hereditary. Studies reveal that a person is prone to eczema if his family has a history of closely linked conditions like hay fever and asthma.
Putting honey on infected eczema helps to clear the infection within hours without using steroid creams that are prescribed by a doctor. Honey is a genital antiseptic and although it is sticky for a few hours meaning that you have to bandage the affected area it is well worth it. It isn’t painful either.
